“As a Mother and a Veteran, I can’t think of a more patriotic way to show my son the importance of fighting for what you believe in than to demonstrate through my own example.”
JoAnna’s childhood forced her to develop a fighting spirit to overcome incredible obstacles. At seventeen, JoAnna answered the call to serve and joined the military. After 20 years of honorable service, she returned home to Arizona with her son. While serving our communities as a congressional staffer, she noticed the struggles people continue to face in our district. JoAnna never planned to run for office, but she saw the need for elected leaders who will fight for Arizonans. We deserve an Arizona where everyone can succeed, regardless of zip code – with access to quality public education, high-paying jobs, affordable healthcare, and a sustainable environment. A place where all children can grow up in safe and prospering communities. JoAnna understands the issues impacting Legislative District 11. She has the experience, skills, and commitment needed to make positive change. JoAnna fought her way out of poverty, fought to protect our Constitutional rights, and she stands ready to fight for the people of Arizona as State Senator in District 11.
WHY I'M RUNNING?
Running for office is hard, especially as a working mom of a young son. But this is why there are so few working women and mothers with young children in the Arizona Legislature. Only 39% of the Arizona legislature are women and less than that have children under the age of five.
Moms understand the struggle of having to juggle responsibilities at home, pursue a career, and work to improve our communities. Moms like me understand the challenges that working families face each and every day. Unfortunately, those are the voices that are missing at the Capitol.
I'm running because I can't imagine my son or any child growing up in a world that doesn't value them. I'm running because we deserve representation that will place the needs of people first. I'm running because the needs of our rural district have been neglected for far too long. I'm running for those who don't have a voice, for those who don't feel represented, for those that have been forgotten. I'm running for you-for us!
